LANSING, Mich. — United States and Michigan flags will be lowered to half-staff on Sunday, Dec. 7, as ordered by Governor Gretchen Whitmer, in honor of the 2,403 Americans who lost their lives during the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.
“Today, we come together to honor the courage and bravery of our fellow Americans at Pearl Harbor and the over 600,000 Michiganders who served our country in uniform during World War II,” said Whitmer. “This Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, let us honor the sacrifices of our brave service members who gave their lives to protect our freedoms and communities.”
Michigan residents, businesses, schools, local governments and other organizations are encouraged to display flags at half-staff on Sunday.
