CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) -A Republic man has died after a car crash in Christian County on Friday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol , the crash occurred on U.S. Highway 60, just one mile west of Billings.

Troopers said that a pickup truck, driven by a 68-year-old man from Aurora, was improperly backing into a driveway facing the wrong direction on westbound Highway 60 at around 7:15 a.m.

An SUV, driven by a 61-year-old Republic man, was headed westbound and failed to observe the pickup truck, hitting it head-on, according to troopers.

The driver of the SUV was later pronounced dead at Cox South in Springfield. Troopers said he was wearing a seatbelt.
