Prime Minister Narendra Modi was speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in Delhi on Saturday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday criticised the use of the term ‘Hindu Rate of Growth’, saying that it was coined by intellectuals who blamed Hindu culture for India’s earlier slow economy, but the same people now remain silent as India has become the world’s fastest-growing major economy.

Speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in New Delhi, Modi said, "When India’s growth rate was 2–3%, some intellectuals called it the Hindu Rate of Growth. Today India is the fastest-growing economy, yet those people are no longer talking about it."
