A video showing large stacks of currency notes being counted as donations for the proposed Babri Mosque in Beldanga of Murshidabad, West Bengal has sparked widespread attention after it was shared on social media by suspended Trinamool Congress MLA Humayun Kabir.

The video spread quickly, sparking debate about amount and source of money. Kabir has also announced that he may start new political party on December 22. Media reports claim that 11 boxes of donations were collected at the foundation stone laying ceremony, requiring 30 people and note-counting machines to count them.
