With the IPL 2026 mini-auction nearing, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) CEO Venky Mysore has finally addressed the franchise’s much-debated decision to release all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer. The 26-year-old, who fetched a staggering Rs 23.75 crore during the 2025 mega-auction, is set to return to the auction list following an underwhelming season.
Despite a disappointing run last year, Iyer continues to be one of the most valued Indian all-rounders, entering the auction at a base price of Rs 2 crore. Only two Indian players are listed in that price bracket, placing him among the most in-demand names. The December 16 auction in Abu Dhabi features 1,355 players, including 45 in the INR 2 crore category, while only 77 slots are available across teams ensuring fierce competition for talents like Iye
