LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Laredo City Council approved a new $266,000 mammogram machine for underinsured women.
Mayor Victor Trevino said the machine is critical for the medically underserved community.
State health data shows Laredo’s north side has an elevated breast cancer risk. The new machine can catch cancer earlier, which is vital for treatment.
The equipment will help underinsured women get screenings. The cost comes from the mayor’s priority funds.
