INDIANAPOLIS —

Indiana Republicans are moving forward with redistricting.

On Friday, the Indiana House voted 57-41 to advance the new map, which intends to give the GOP two additional seats in Congress after the 2026 midterm elections. Advertisement

All representatives who voted in favor of implementing the new map were Republicans. Meanwhile, all of the chamber's Democrats voted with 12 Republicans in opposing the map. Two other representatives were not present for the vote.

Currently, Republicans control seven of the state's nine congressional seats. The new map intends to redraw the district line to make reelection for the state's two Democratic incumbents — Rep. Frank Mrvan and Rep. André Carson — significantly more difficult.
