LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — A 21-year-old man just out of college will take a seat in the Georgia House of Representatives next month – making him the youngest member of the legislature.

The next time gun enthusiasts in the Georgia legislature consider a bill that protects Second Amendment freedoms, there's a chance they'll hear from Akbar Ali, their newest Democratic colleague.

"For instance, I grew up with gun drills in schools. Like, I've lived that experience. My younger brothers go through that as well," Ali said on Wednesday.

Ali went to Gwinnett's Parkview High School and will now represent a stretch of central Gwinnett County in the state House.
