QUINCY, Calif. (KOLO) - Two Reno residents died on Saturday, Dec. 6, in a shootout on US 395 near the Long Valley Agricultural Inspection Station that is located in Sierra County, Calif., according to a California Highway Patrol (CHP) Facebook post.
The incident began at 8:50 a.m. after two vehicles with all Reno residents inside pulled to the right shoulder of US 395 and a confrontation ensued, the post said.
When a CHP Portola Resident Post officer arrived on scene, they began shooting, the post said.
The officer immediately detained everyone then began administering medical aid.
Despite lifesaving efforts, two people died at the scene, the post said.
The involved parties have been identified.
At this time, there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
Southbound US 395 was closed
