OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. (WFSB) - The waterways of Old Saybrook were lit for the first time with a new breakwater light to memorialize three men killed in a September 2024 boat crash .

The light was turned on during a ceremony at the Saybrook Point Inn on Sunday, where families of the victims were joined by community advocates and lawmakers who have worked on the project since the crash occurred.

The victims — Ryan, Ian and Chris — died when their boat crashed into the breakwater in September 2024. Their families created the organization “Light the Way” with a mission to prevent more tragedies by lighting up the water and spreading water safety awareness.
