EVADALE, Texas — Two Jasper County deputies who previously spent their careers in education put their quick thinking to work Sunday during a medical emergency that left an 88-year-old woman disoriented and unable to move, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Chuck Havard said he received a call around 12:25 p.m. from a Beaumont woman reporting that her mother was experiencing a medical crisis inside her home in Evadale. The caller told dispatchers that the woman, 88-year-old Dorothy McShan, appeared disoriented and immobile.
Havard, along with Deputy Morgan and Deputy Tipton, responded to the residence. When they arrived, they found an open window at the back of the home. Havard said Morgan suggested Tipton climb through to gain access.
