A high-speed crash on I-676 left a driver dead in Philadelphia on Monday, Dec. 8, Pennsylvania State Police announced.

The collision happened in the center lane of I-676 East, east of Broad Street near 11th Street at approximately 9:57 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 8, according to PSP.

A utility truck had stopped in the center lane due to traffic when a dark gray Toyota Corolla with Florida registration struck the back of the truck at high speed, police said. The Corolla was operated by a 27-year-old man from Florida, who was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The roadway was shut down briefly for the investigation and has since been reopened, authorities added.
