WASHINGTON — A Frederick County judge sentenced Ernesto Cesar Torres, 74, to 30 years in prison on Monday for Sexual Abuse of a Minor and three counts of Third-Degree Sex Offense.

Torres was a former pediatrician with a practice based in Frederick, Maryland. In March, he was found guilty on 97 criminal charges of sexually abusing dozens of his pediatric patients for at least four decades.

On May 7, 2019, Frederick Police received a call from a mother that her 11-year-old daughter had been sexually abused during her pediatric exam. The mother told police she brought her child into Torres' office to treat a mild skin condition. Her daughter later told her Torres made her feel uncomfortable by placing his hand down her pants and touching her "down there."
