An incident along the coast sparked a huge emergency response this morning.

The coastguard attended the incident near Palm Bay in Cliftonville, Margate, with reports of police, paramedics and fire crews also at the scene.

Emergency services were said to be at a slipway near Bethesda Medical Centre.

A coastguard spokesperson said this morning: “We are currently attending an incident in Margate.

“Coastguard rescue teams from Margate and Hythe have been sent.”

It is understood to have been a “welfare incident” and coastguard crews have now been stood down.
