AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A local organization is asking for community help to spread holiday cheer to seniors through wellness bags filled with supplies to help them stay healthy and fresh.

Acts of Aiken has been providing wellness and Christmas cheer to Aiken seniors for around a decade through volunteer efforts.

“It’s just a nice little package to give them for Christmas. A lot of them don’t have any interaction with other people. It’s just a nice way to kind of recognize them at Christmas time,” said Marilyn Lane, a volunteer with Acts of Aiken.

Community response exceeds expectations

In the aftermath of a government shutdown, Acts of Aiken asked for assistance to meet the need for wellness bags.
