NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Metro Nashville Public School Board is considering a new 5-year contract with Serva, a Nashville-based security firm with decades of military and law enforcement training.
The agreement includes a spending cap of $500,000, which breaks down to no more than $100,000 per year.
The contract will be discussed during Tuesday night’s school board meeting.
Hiring extra security guards is not new to Metro Nashville Public Schools. For the past five years, the district has worked with Securitas, a security company that has provided extra guards for situations that fall outside the scope of the district’s regular school-day coverage, including some athletic events and after school activities.
