ALTOONA, Pa. (Gray News) - Body camera video captured the moment Altoona police confronted Luigi Mangione at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s on Dec. 9, 2024.

Excerpts of the body camera footage of Mangione’s arrest were released on Tuesday. The video was previously unseen by the press or public.

Prior to Mangione’s arrest, a five-day manhunt was underway for a suspect in the fatal shooting of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Video footage caught the moment when 50-year-old Thompson was shot from behind by a masked gunman on a New York sidewalk on Dec. 4, 2024.

On Dec. 9, 2024, a caller at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, reported seeing someone who looked like the suspect in photos shared by police.
