IndiGo Chairman Vikram Singh Mehta on Wednesday said the airline’s board will “examine every aspect” of the cascading operational failure that triggered thousands of flight cancellations over the past week. In a video message, Mehta apologised to passengers, acknowledging that an “unexpected chain of events” on December 3 spiralled into large-scale disruptions that left thousands stranded.
He said the board has now decided to bring in external technical experts to work with IndiGo’s management and identify the root causes, adding that the airline owes answers “to customers, the government, shareholders and employees”.
