Greer City Council unanimously approved a $69.3 million guaranteed maximum price package for a new sports and events complex during its Dec. 9 meeting.
The complex is being built on 26 acres near the intersection of South Main Street (S.C. Highway 14) and South Buncombe Road.
The funding includes final design and scope for the 205,000-square-foot main building, which will include eight basketball or 16 volleyball courts in the main gym area, and one basketball or two volleyball courts in the auxiliary gym. The funding will come from the Corporation for Greer Fund.
The building will also include a 4,800-square-foot fitness gym, a 5,100-square-foot community room, a cafe and administrative office space for city staff.
