CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A homicide is under investigation in north Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

It happened at the intersection of Beatties Ford Road and Hyde Park Drive.

CMPD said officers first responded to the scene around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday for a welfare check. The victim has not been identified, beyond being an adult. The victim had an apparent gunshot wound, CMPD said.

"Indications currently that some shooting happened here, yes," said Major Ryan Kendall of CMPD during a briefing at the scene.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released the victim's identity but confirmed they were an adult.
