PAWLING- Authorities throughout the region are on the lookout for a missing college student from Alabama whose car passed through Putnam County and was last seen in Pawling.

Jacksonville State University is asking for the public’s help in finding James Nichols who went missing last week.

College officials said Nichols left campus in his 1999 blue Chevrolet Malibu with Alabama license plates which was recorded traveling north through Putnam and later in Pawling on Friday, according to investigators.

Jacksonville State University Police Chief Michael Barton said police throughout Alabama were “coordinating closely with law enforcement in New York, where James’s vehicle was last spotted,” adding: “The case has been entered into the national criminal justice database, and investigators are
