Shocking moment car speeds wrong way down busy motorway

This is the moment a car drove the wrong way down a busy motorway near Greater Manchester.

The shocking video was captured on the M61 near Junction 6 for Chorley, Lancs., yesterday (September 6) around 10:35am.

It shows a Ford Fiesta driving the wrong way on the slow lane on the motorway.

The driver - who wants to remain anonymous - said he was driving northbound on on his way to Haigh Woodland Park with his family.

Four minutes later, the family were coming off the motorway at Junction 6, when the Ford flew past them again, and mounted the curb.

The driver said: "I noticed a police car first and wondered where it was going.
