GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - On Monday, the Greenville City Council voted 6-0 to approve joining a lease agreement with ECU for use of the North Recreational Complex located on U.S. Highway 264.

The $13 million contract with ECU and the City of Greenville aims to use and expand the sports complex to increase tourism and recreational offerings within the city.

The location has been identified by the city since August 2023, as a place that can support and attract large sporting events and tournaments.

“The big benefit is the economic impact that weekend tournaments can bring to a community,” Andrew Schmidt, President and CEO of Visit Greenville NC and President of NC Sports said.
