Hibernian managed to beat the transfer deadline by just ten minutes to secure the loan signing of Dan Barlaser from Middlesbrough .

The midfielder, who spent two-and-a-half years at the Riverside, completed a late deadline-day switch to the Scottish Premiership side. The move came as Barlaser slipped down the pecking order at Boro while in the final year of his contract, with the final 48 hours of the window described as a ‘whirlwind’.

Given his contract status and lack of game-time opportunities, Boro were keen to move the 28-year-old on this summer. There was interest from Derby County and Millwall on transfer deadline day, but neither materialised sufficiently before the 7 pm deadline in England.
