MAYFIELD, Ky. – An 11-year-old child has been charged with terroristic threatening after a reported threat toward Mayfield Middle School on Thursday.
The Mayfield Police Department says it received a call at 6:10 a.m. this morning about a juvenile making threats toward the school.
Mayfield police say they quickly identified, located and detained the suspected juvenile.
Following interviews and considered evidence, the 11-year-old male was ordered to juvenile detention on a charge of second-degree terroristic threatening.
Police say there is no ongoing threat to public safety. Mayfield Independent School systems were kept informed during the stages of this investigation, police say.
Authorities say they will continue to work with the schools to ensure safety of both students and staff.
