SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - Mount Holyoke College has announced a new initiative, the Mount Holyoke Commitment, pledging free tuition for U.S. students from families with total incomes up to $150,000.
The program positions the liberal arts college among a growing number of selective institutions outside the Ivy League offering tuition-free education.
College leaders say the move reflects Mount Holyoke’s mission to expand access at a time when affordability remains a top concern for families nationwide.
A recent survey conducted by the Lumina Foundation and Gallup found that nearly two-thirds of Americans believe a college education is out of reach for most people. Mount Holyoke officials said their new commitment is designed to counter that trend.
