LOUISVILLE, Ky. – In Louisville, an escaped inmate wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation is now in custody following an extensive search in Mason County.

Forty-eight-year-old Jerry Lee Cooper escaped the Brown County Detention Center in Georgetown, Ohio on Sept. 15.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office says Cooper was apprehended Monday night by the FBI after two individuals picked him up and transported him to Louisville.

Both individuals, 46-year-old Marlana Strausbaugh and 48-year-old William Strausbaugh, now face federal charges, including second-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension and second-degree escape (complicity).

The FBI says Cooper was awaiting trial for his alleged role in a murder-for-hire.
