NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Reacting along party lines, Louisiana's congressional delegation is speaking out against the government shutdown, pointing fingers in the process, but also saying they'll help people in our state who are affected by the shutdown.

Congresswoman Julia Letlow released a statement saying she's assisting constituents with any needs they might have due to the government shutdown. Congressman Troy Carter, D-La., says Democrats want Republicans in Congress to focus on supporting a bipartisan agreement.

"Let's make sure that the American people have access to affordable health care, that we're not putting their lives and their health at risk over party politics," said Carter.
