The UK faces 109 miles worth of snowfall as we head through October. Maps and charts, from WX Charts, which use Met Desk data, have turned white, grey and purple as we head through the tenth month of the year.

On October 12, from MIDDAY, the latest weather maps - which use Met Desk data - show wintriness across Scotland. North of the border, maps and charts show a wintry shift as flurries are likely.

At 12noon on October 12, the Highlands faces snow, with 0.4cm per hour of flurries leading eventually to 0.6cm per hour. The band of snow will stretch across to Aberdeenshire and down to Perth and Kinross.
