SUNSET PARK, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A 75-year-old woman is dead after what police are calling a deadly hit-and-run in Sunset Park that has left an entire community heartbroken.
The victim, identified as Judith Byron, was struck and killed Saturday night at the intersection of 41st Street and 7th Avenue—just steps from her home.
Throughout Sunday, neighbors and residents gathered at the corner, placing flowers and candles beneath a light pole now turned into a growing memorial. A note read, “In memory of our dear friend and neighbor.”
“She’s going to be missed, she was a beautiful human, inside and out,” said neighbor Madeline Borrelli, who lives in the building next to Byron.
Borrelli recalled the shared garden space between their buildings, where Byron lovingly taught others about plants.
