KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A man was charged with multiple felonies in connection with a stabbing on Sunday.

The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Austin Lewis was charged with first-degree attempted robbery, two counts of armed criminal action and first-degree assault.

A probable cause document indicated that a Kansas City worker was cleaning sidewalks near Penn Valley Park when Austin Lewis of Independence, Missouri, approached him and asked for a dollar.

When the worker ignored Lewis because of a language barrier, Lewis stabbed the City employee and ran away, law enforcement stated.

Police found Lewis a short distance away from the stabbing scene and took him into custody.
