AMITE, La. (WGNO) — The Amite City Police Department is investigating after a person was shot and killed Tuesday morning, Oct. 7.

At 4:58 a.m. officers were alerted of a possible shooting victim being found inside a vehicle parked in the road in the 400 block of East Factory Street.

Responding officers arrived to find the victim suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound in the vehicle. They were pronounced dead on the scene.

No further details are available at this time. Officers are in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.
