NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The system we’ve been watching the last few days — previously known as Invest 95L — has organized enough to officially become Tropical Storm Jerry. It’s sitting well out in the open Atlantic, roughly 1,000 miles east of the Windward Islands, so there are no immediate land impacts to worry about.
Satellite data earlier Tuesday showed winds near 45 mph, and you can already see thunderstorms wrapping around the center — a clear sign the storm is tightening up and slowly getting stronger.
Tracking Jerry’s Path
Jerry is cruising west at a good clip, around 25 mph, guided by a strong ridge of high pressure to its north. As it approaches the western Atlantic later this week, it should start to slow down and curve more toward the west-northwest.
