NASHVILLE, Tennessee (KTRE) - East Texas native and country singer Cody Johnson is canceling the rest of his concerts this year so he can recover from surgery to repair a burst ear drum.
In a statement issued Tuesday, Johnson said he had been battling a severe upper respiratory and sinus infection, and the severity of the ear drum rupture meant he needs immediate surgery.
“The healing process will take many weeks, and it is not possible for me to sing during this time,” the singer said. “Without the surgery my downtime could be months. I pray for full healing so I can get well and return to doing what I love.”
Johnson asked ticketholders to stay tuned for an email from their providers for further details.
Johnson is nominated in several categories at the upcoming CMA Awards on Nov. 19,
