UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (DC News Now) -- The Prince George’s County Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office are joining forces to strengthen their response to domestic violence cases across the county.
Officials said while overall crime is trending down, domestic violence remains a serious concern.
At a press conference Tuesday, county leaders highlighted major drops in crime this year, including a 22% decrease in violent crime, a 57% reduction in carjackings, a 32% drop in homicides, a 49% reduction in robberies and a 14% decrease in property crime compared to last year.
Despite the progress, Prince George’s County Police Chief George Nader said domestic violence continues to be one a concerning crime to combat.
