CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A west Charlotte crash has taken the life of one person, according to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police.

Just after 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, officers were called to Wilkinson Boulevard near Ashley Road for a crash.

Authorities have not said what led up to the wreck, but did say that someone died in the incident. It is unclear if any charges are expected.

Wilkinson Boulevard is closed eastbound near Ashley Road. The road is currently estimated to reopen just before 9 a.m. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
