The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has announced that it will conduct a traffic shift at Old Wire Rd. and U.S. Highway 21 in Lexington County from a 4-way stop to a roundabout configuration beginning Oct. 13.
Signs have been placed in the area alerting drivers to this change, and the SCDOT is encouraging drivers to slow down and pay attention to the signs and crews working on the new roundabout.
According to the SCDOT, the temporary pavement in the center of the roundabout will be removed once the change has been implemented so crews can complete construction of the center island. The final pavement and pavement markings will be placed following this construction.
The project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2026.
