SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — San Angelo's Lone Wolf Bridge has been painted with graffiti for years, accruing a collage of tags, expletives, artwork and more with time. Deterring vandalism from the historic bridge has been difficult, officials say — but change may be coming soon.

A bridge between past and present

Originally constructed in 1888, Lone Wolf Bridge spans the South Concho River and stands as the oldest bridge in San Angelo as well as the town's only remaining metal truss bridge. The structure was remodeled in 1922 and converted from a vehicle bridge to a pedestrian bridge in 2011. Carl White, director for the City of San Angelo's Parks & Recreation Department, said the City formally acquired the bridge in 2011.
