FINLAND, Minn. — A fire inside a state park along Minnesota's North Shore has grown an additional 50 acres on Saturday.
The Minnesota Incident Command System (MNICS) says the wildfire in a remote area of George Crosby Manitou State Park now covers 260 acres of land and is moderately active after the expected northwest winds on Friday.
It was first reported on Wednesday at 30 acres in size. The fire grew to an estimated 210 acres within two days.
According to MNICS, the Crosby Fire was sparked by a lightning strike. Authorities report that containment has increased to 45%, up from 30% on Friday.
MNICS says the air support will continue assisting fire crews on the scene, and reminds residents that drones are not permitted in the area while work to extinguish the fire continues.
