JACKSON COUNTY, Mo - An Independence man was injured in a two-vehicle accident in Jackson County early this morning.

The accident occurred just before 12:30 at the intersection of Missouri Highway 291 and Cobbler Road. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol an SUV driven by a 46-year-old Independence man drove into the path of a car driven by a 65-year-old Smithville man resulting in the car hitting the passenger side of the SUV.

The driver of the SUV suffered serious injuries and was taken to Liberty Hospital for treatment. The driver of the car was uninjured.
