CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -Thousands drive through Charleston on the Fort Hill Bridge every day.
Mitch Casto lives in South Charleston, he said, “Over the years though, I’ve seen some places that need repair.”
Charlie Cobb has driven the bridge for years and said, “It’s pretty nasty, bust tires and everything else, knock stuff out of your truck, I mean it’s crazy.”
Headache from drivers and patch work to repair the bridge led to a $6.7 million contract to extend the bridges life.
Cobb said, “I usually avoid it in the evening time, because the traffic is ungodly.”
After several incidents with potholes opening up on the bridge, crews have spent months patching up problem areas and closing lanes of traffic.
