Watching CBC news recently from Lloydminster, Sask., they were broadcasting from the grand opening of the new Cenovus Energy Hub. It is a new multiplex with a pool, waterslides, a gym and outdoor sports venues.

I am reminded of the multiple times in recent years that I have travelled to Western Canada and witnessed that in every community, of any size, a sportsplex with names on the buildings that reflect the major employers in the area.

The one I was in, in Rocky Mountain House, Alta., had a beautiful pool, waterslides, gym, saunas, curling rink, hockey arena, outside track and tennis courts.

It really smacks you when you are standing in one of these complexes, seeing how beautiful they are and all the smiling faces of the children running, swimming, playing. Then there are the seniors
