COLUMBIA Mo. – Several hundred non-traditional students are now participating for the first time in fall sports and other activities associated with the Missouri State High School Activities Association.

MSHSAA reports that approximately 300 homeschooled and virtual students are participating in fall sports across the state.

“How do we ensure that all students in grades six through 12 are being treated fairly no matter what their particular kind of school enrollment is,” MSHSAA Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Rukstad said in an interview.

The extracurricular organization was forced to change its rules following the passing of Senate Bill 63, which became law this summer.
