PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- From defending Portland's sanctuary city status to administration attempts to deploy National Guard troops into the city, Councilor Eric Zimmerman has a lot on his plate.
He's one of the 12 councilors elected last November as part of the expanded City Council. Zimmerman represents District 4, covering essentially all of Portland west of the Willamette River.
The former chief of staff to Multnomah County Commissioner Julia Brim-Edwards, Zimmerman is an army veteran who served in Iraq and in the Oregon National Guard.
Councilor Zimmerman joined Eye on Northwest Politics to discuss what's next for Portland as protests over presidential overreach continue.
