BRADENTON, Fla. ( WWSB ) - Suncoast residents continue to depend on community food assistance programs as SNAP benefits remain partially restored, with some waiting hours in line for help.
James Hudson and Robert Gerardi, both Bradenton residents, waited over three hours at a drive-through food pantry. The two men said they are angry at the SNAP system but grateful for local food assistance.
“Totally disabled, my wife and I, and we don’t get food stamps because they say we make too much, and we depend on food banks once in a while,” Gerardi said.
Another Bradenton resident, Rodney Shingle, also waited in line for food. He said he sees his community struggling financially.
