KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Charges are pending after a driver in downtown Knoxville drove down Locust Street the wrong way, crashing into a Knoxville Area Transit bus and another car, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

It happened Wednesday morning near Cumberland Avenue, according to KPD’s communications manager, Scott Erland. The KPD spokesperson added that no one was seriously hurt.

“A vehicle driving the wrong way on Locust clipped a KAT bus and struck another vehicle head-on,” Erland said.

He also said that, once officers arrived on the scene, the wrong-way driver tried to run from the scene. They were later taken into custody.

A spokesperson for KAT declined to comment.
