GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The Gainesville Police Department confirmed a school resource officer used pepper spray on students during a fight at a middle school on Thursday.
Before 10:30 a.m., officers say two girls got into a fight at Lincoln Middle School, which prompted a response from an SRO. Several other students formed a circle around the students and the SRO.
Police say to break up the fight and de-escalate the situation, the SRO released two quick shots of pepper spray.
One of the girls ran, while the SRO escorted the other to the nurse’s office.
Some of the students who huddled around the fight received secondary exposure to the spray.
