MADISON (WKOW) – Residents at Porchlight, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing homelessness, are moving into their new home on South Blair Street. The building provides permanent housing for those who have experienced homelessness.
“This building is a blessing, truly, for us,” said Karla Thennes, the executive director of the non-profit.
Thennes explained how a developer approached them at their old location on Brooks Street. The developer offered to build the new facility free of charge if Porchlight handed over their old building.
The old building on Brooks Street housed about 100 people but was financially draining to the organization.
