DURHAM, N.C. -- Durham County leaders marked a significant milestone in the push for affordable housing with the ribbon-cutting for "Renegade Durham," a new mixed-income apartment complex on Main Street.

The multi-phase development, years in the making, includes 110 affordable housing units, a pre-K and childcare center, and approximately 4,000 square feet of commercial space.

"This project has taken some time to come up. We used to sit here across the street and watch it come up," Interim Durham Housing Authority Director Anthony Snell said. "But that's, you know, that's part and parcel for a project of this nature. They take a lot of time. But at the end, you see the results of this beautiful structure. Over a hundred and some families now can call it home."
