Indiana University will lift its blanket suspension that barred fraternities from hosting parties and other activities after a string of hazing incidents on the Bloomington campus.

All fraternities in good standing were notified they could resume activities on Dec. 1 when they return from Thanksgiving break, spokesperson Mark Bode told IndyStar. Fraternities under investigation are still subject to restrictions.

This comes as the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, a prominent First Amendment organization, argued the university's ban constitutes a "guilt-by-association punishment" that violates students' First Amendment rights without a meaningful safety tradeoff.
